Napoli, Museo di Capodimonte 2 July – 6 September 2009
This exhibition showcased new paintings by the American artist and film director, part of his Chinese Paintings series. It was first seen in the Saatchi Gallery’s new London premises, and then, for the first time in Italy, at the Museum of Capodimonte in Naples, which traditionally fosters stimulating dialogues between its own historic art collections and contemporary art. Installed in the large spaces of the Sala Causa, the paintings were positioned and hung under the artist’s supervision and following his stringent criteria of style and chronology.
