Gaspare Traversi. Napoletani del ‘700 tra miseria e nobiltŕ
Napoli, Castel Sant’Elmo 13 December 2003 – 14 March 2004
First great solo exhibition, in Naples and the whole of Italy, for one of the most fascinating protagonists of 18th century Neapolitan painting. Around 100 paintings illustrate the main stages in the painter’s artistic journey, with masterpieces from important Italian and foreign institutions displayed next to equally precious objects and artefacts, showcasing one of the most fascinating and fruitful periods in the history of Neapolitan art and culture. As many of the paintings on loan were from abroad, to comply with current legislation it was necessary to arrange and fulfil a series of custom and fine art formalities in order to import the items into Italy and later re-export them back to their countries of origin.
